Mendip Cave Rescue

Mendip Cave Rescue is a dedicated charity based in Mendip, UK, that provides emergency assistance to cavers in distress. Their team of volunteers responded quickly to a call from Avon and Somerset Police on 17th February 2024, when a caver experienced equipment failure and was trapped in Hunters Hole in Priddy. With their expertise and spare equipment, the MCR members were able to safely re-rig the lower pitches and assist the caver in exiting the cave. Thanks to their timely response, the incident was resolved efficiently, and everyone involved was brought back to the surface unharmed. Mendip Cave Rescue is thankful for the support of the community, including the Hunters Lodge Inn, whose cooperation was instrumental in the successful rescue operation.
